Phoria reveal intimate and immersive new single, “Evolve”
Brighton-based electronic quintet Phoria have shared the next installment from their upcoming debut LP Volition. As evocative and multi-layered as preceding single “Melatonin”, new single “Evolve” is an emotionally engaging and wholly absorbing sonic experience from start to finish.
“Evolve” builds upon the heady and immersive compositional style that characterised Trewin Howard’s songwriting on the band's 2013’s Bloodworks EP and 2014’s Display EP. Buoyed by guitarist Jeb Hardwick, piano/synth player Ed Sanderson, drummer Seryn Burden, and bass/synth player Tim Douglas, Howard’s stratospheric vocal delivery melds seamlessly with vaporous washes of synth.
The song’s rhythmic complexity infuses the piece with a distinctive tactile quality as percussive breathwork, clicking, and tapping anchor the song’s ethereal elements to the physical realm.
Volition is slated for release on 3 June in 12” vinyl and digital download formats via X Novo Records.
