"Another Red Day" is the sultry new cut from rising French artist Norma
Having released her first EP back in 2016, Norma took some time out to really get to grips with her first album, making it on her terms and by her own rulebook. "Another Red Day" comes as the first taster of what is to come.
Growing up on a steady diet of Britney Spears, Marvin Gaye and The Supremes before exploring The Clash as she got older, Norma was always surrounded by music and to this day you can still hear the eclectic range of influences rumbling through her work.
After leaving school, the artist moved to London before eventually heading to Paris and thus began working under the moniker of Norma. The rest, as they say, is history.
She released her first EP and quickly rose through the ranks, soon finding herself under the pressure of music industry execs who were encouraging her to get her album out as soon as possible. Instead of bowing to the pressure, however, Norma took herself away to really work on a body of work that she could be confident and proud of, and from the sounds of "Another Red Day", she absolutely made the right decision.
Stripped-back and sensuous elegance simmer through the new song that is made for the early hours of the morning, full of lust-fuelled over-thinking and pinned down by a slow groove that powers the moody romance of the track. It's a song that never has to try too hard as the melodies weave in magical motion and pull you deeply into Norma's sultry world where she creates everything from the visuals to the artwork on her own, all proving that this is an artist who knows exactly what she wants.
Speaking on the new track, Norma says "'Another Red Day' is the song that started off the recording of the album. I had a funny sensation when I wrote it, I felt like this familiar feeling was finally pouring out of me - something 'left unsaid': a red wave that had been ruling my life every month, the invisible hold of the moon. It came to me effortlessly, sitting at the piano facing the window, my heart warm and heavy with gloom... red."
