Nathan Fake’s debut album is all but synonymous with Border Community. Drowning In A Sea Of Love‘s roughly hewn synth sounds and lysergic melodies have helped to define a label that has helped to define a genre.
On his second album Fake moved into techier territory. The melodies simmered with a new aggression, the percussion had a harder edge. But for his third effort, it would seem, the producer has returned to his kaleidoscopically warped vision of pastoral England. ‘Iceni Strings’, the first single to be taken from his forthcoming album Steam Days, bounces along in unmistakably Fake-like fashion, with clipping bass and hydraulic percussion, gradually expanding into a Super 8 shimmer.
‘Iceni Strings’ is out 11 June on Border Community. Steam Days will follow on 27 August.
