Formed at the end of 2013 over a mutual love of trip-hop and 80’s synth-pop, LA trio MUNA are beginning to reveal the fruits of their labour. “The Grave”, the second offering from their forthcoming EP anticipated for release this year, is by no means a perfectly polished track but one that hints at an exciting future.
Comprised of spidery acoustics, dark atmospherics and wistful harmonies, comparisons to fellow LA-ers Warpaint and London-based gloom-rockers 2:54 are immediately striking. But the roomy drums and bright, pop vocals proffer something more accessible, as is the case with their happy-go-lucky debut, “2BMoved”.
It’s early days for MUNA, but we’re happy to be at the start.
