We’ve long been fans of Rudi Zygadlo. It’s been fantastically entertaining to watch the Berlin-based producer gradually move from sort-of-dubstep further towards inventive, bass-led, knowingly melodramatic songcraft.
Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr, meanwhile, are relative newcomers. Their debut album It’s A Corporate World is a stunningly well-produced set of all-American, wide-eyed pop songs, full of hooks, and consistently entertaining.
This reworking of ‘Nothing But Our Love’ demonstrates that Zygadlo and Earnhardt are a pretty great fit – the producer’s brash, triplet-heavy kick-and-bass combination sitting perfectly with the band’s tightly wound pop.
Dale Earnardt Jr Jr play Proud on Wednesday, and Club NME at Koko on Friday.
