Miranda Joan celebrates female friendship on the blissful "Happy To Have You"
NYC-based Canadian artist Miranda Joan drops her latest positivity-drenched single “Happy To Have You”. The euphorically uplifting track showcases her velvety tones and mesmerising vocal range atop chilled R&B sounds.
“Happy To Have You” is a celebration of women, female friendship and a nod to those who are actively helping to bring equality to the forefront of the music industry. Also known for her role as co-founder of NYC’s first all-female led jam session, Femme Jam, Miranda Joan is waving the flag for female musicians, creating a safe space and community for those who want to make a difference.
Her latest track was conceived from the songwriter’s own experiences of love and relationships, with the ambition that it may empower and encourage others to find their inner strength and self-love. Joan explains, “Living far from home and far from the people I love, this song is about gratitude and about telling the people you love that you love them. This latest body of work is a reflection of my journey through the lens of finding my footing as a woman and the importance of my community of women who support me on this path.”
Despite nearing the end of summer, the single transports us to those sunny blue sky days, Joan’s warmly soulful sound having been compared to the likes of Macy Gray. With her use of more modern-leaning instrumentation, we’re hearing elements of Emily King and Erykah Badu.
Born in Montréal and raised in Vancouver, the Canadian artist uses her multicultural upbringing from both French and English backgrounds to bring a diverse and fresh sound to her music. The positive anthem, which is produced by Julian Pollack (Grace Kelly, Marcus Miller), perfectly captures Joan’s love of soul and pop, creating a song which delicately shimmers with kaleidoscopic soundscapes and iridescent vocal arrangements.”
