Last week Best Fit premiered a stunning Max Cooper ‘Reconstruction’ of Michael Nyman and David McAlmont’s ‘Secrets, Accusations and Charges’. That “miasmic reinterpretation” forms half of a two-part remix EP out this month on Sasha’s Last Night On Earth – and today we are pleased to share the flip side.
In contrast with the ‘Reconstruction’, Cooper’s ‘Deconstruction’ has been built not for headphones but for the dancefloor. Its shuffling drum pattern is full of almost imperceptible shifts, with new percussive elements floating in and out of the track’s peripheries. But the real focal point is the set of simple melody lines, constantly expanding, and seemingly constructed from pieces of McAlmont’s vocal, chopped so dramatically as to be virtually unrecognisable.
Cooper launches his remixes at next month’s FIELDS, at Electrowerkz, on 13 July. He will be joined by D/R/U/G/S, Rival Consoles, and Enjoyed. In the meantime stream the ‘Deconstruction’ below, courtesy of Indieshuffle.
