One of the best new acts flying under the radar in London right now is prolific bass producer and singer, Maths Time Joy. With a knack for gliding between an array of vocal samples ranging from pitched-down billowy octaves to chipmunk scampers, all of which pop up throughout MTJ’s tracks like stars peeking through the sky on a cloudy night.
Lush, textural production and a thick-muted bassline is the foundation of Maths Time Joy’s signature sound, relying on synthesized organ notes that flare up and build a backdrop for a whirlwind of house-inspired percussion bells and whistles, jazzy high-hats, RnB-infused breathy vocal arrangements, to which he finally drips in the slightest of quirks to add one more level of complexity for you to uncover.
Maths Time Joy’s Hideaway EP is out today. Grab a free download via Live For The Funk.
