Lovespeake walk the “Tightrope” with a funk-filled swagger
In under three minutes, Lovespeake have us hooked. “Tightrope” - taken from their debut full-length DNA - is, unlike its name suggests, a funk-filled saunter that welcomes us into their world.
With influences ranging from Random Access Memories to the 2009 summer of chillwave and the tamer pop side of Animal Collective, the six-piece blend disco-tinged guitars with deep dancing, bouncing bass to create their moreish style of electro-psych-pop.
It’s a dreamy, pastel affair that teases the quality of its accompanying album and proves why the outfit have been enjoying a plethora of support in their native Norway; a country that continues to produce some of the most head-turning music we have.
