London trio Flawes make one of the year's most intriguing debuts with "Don't Wait For Me" [Premiere]
London trio Flawes make their debut with "Don’t Wait For Me", premiering today on Best Fit.
Flawes announce themselves with a clever finger-tapping acoustic guitar riff made all the more intriguing by the electronic embellishments that ensure that no human could ever replicate it, but "Don't Wait For Me" is far from folktronica. Josh Carruthers' sinewy falsetto falls all over muscular bass en route to one of the most intriguing debuts of the year.
Carruthers explains: "This is loosely autobiographical and based on a time I found myself dating a girl and didn't really know where I stood having being sent mixed messages. It goes through me making my mind up and deciding to end the relationship. I was no longer going to come running. 'Please don't stumble and fall to your knees'; Even if they did try and beg for forgiveness and try work things out, I had already made up my mind and nothing is going to change that."
Be sure to catch Flawes at their first London show at Hoxton Square 19 October. Their debut EP, UNSPKN, is set for release 23 October.
Carruthers is a collaborator of pop sensation Ella Eyre, and plays in her live band as a keyboardist.
