Living airs heady debut "Florahedron", recalling the kaleidoscopic sounds of Animal Collective
Lucas de Almeida aka Living impresses with his colourful debut single "Florahedron".
The first offering from the Brazilian soloist hears vast swathes of synth wash under a song brimming with bulbous beats, harmonious choral samples, French accordion effects, and fluttering guitars.
Almeida's voice, cloaked as it is in luscious reverb, immediately brings to mind the distant coos of Noah Benjamin Lennox (Animal Collective / Panda Bear) set upon a dense tapestry that lends itself to pure, unbridled escapism.
Speaking about the track, Living says: "'Florahedron' is a song about friendship, about the love we are able to feel for people who are always there for us and who we want to always be there for.
"In fact, half of the lyrics were written by my best friend. He just wrote down what he thought I sang when I sent him a demo of me performing the song at practice, and so I began to sing that instead. I
"I love cooperating like that, I love the feeling of giving someone something and getting to hear something new in return. It feels like a conversation, like real life. And that's what Living is all about."
"Florahedron" is released on 20 November via Diamond Club.
