Listen: Vulkano – “Vulkano” [Premiere]
Having formed – almost instantly – from the ashes of the much missed Swedish pop combo Those Dancing Days a year or two ago, it’s taken Vulkano some time to find their footing.
Whilst Those Dancing Days’ vocalist Linnea Jönsson alligned herself with Best Fit Recordings‘ own Sportsman, former drummer Cissi Efraimsson and keyboard player Lisa Pyk-Wirström took the initial riot grrrl blueprint of early TDD material and morphed it into a frustrated post punk squawl. Early material showed promise, but it’s with new single “Vulkano” that the pair finally seem to be making strides in the right direction.
Fans of fellow Swedes Love Is All and their loose limbed pop punk will be in raptures. Joyous, no frills fun. What Vulkano lack in depth they make up for in boundless enthusiasm.
The duo are set to release their debut album Live Wild Die Free on the 3 February through their own label. Catch them in the UK at the following dates:
