Their incendiary debut ‘Firechild’ lit up the blogosphere as the winter winds blew through 2012, now Brit Tom Kingston and Aussie Joe Wilson – better known as Solomon Grey – have mapped out their next thrilling move; a single on the consistently reliable Black Butter Records.
Pencilled in for a 4 August release, ‘Gen V’ begins to bloom with fluttering arpeggiated synths and a Radiohead-nodding guitar intro before unfurling like the dramatic scenery on a transcontinental rail journey. More comparisons with TV On The Radio will likely follow, although the antagonistic vocal pairing – sweet falsetto one minute, inky vocoded hiss the next – evokes Jamie Lidell on top elastic-tongued form.
A breathtaking debut proper.
