Like bacon jam or chili chocolate, here’s a somewhat unlikely combination that just works, although you might not be able to explain why.
Everything Everything have taken Laura Mvula’s wonderfully bucolic ‘Like The Morning Dew’ and thrown their distinctive punchy, staccato sound all over it. The track opens with unrecognisable plays on Mvula’s vocal, alongside that completely intriguing and complex metallic rhythm. When a neatly crunching bass kicks alongside the original melody, it provides deep and satisfying respite from the mind-bending noises, but before you have time to relax you’re thrown back in amongst it to fend for yourself.
