It would be fair to say she had a bit of a quiet 2013, but the new year sees Kyla La Grange re-emerge, embracing an exciting new sound.
The London singer has taken an intuitive step away from her darker, brooding previous work to explore a different direction: cold, sparse layers of soft synth and clicking percussion accompany La Grange’s immaculate breathy vocal, before Jakwob colours the moreish chorus with tinges of his careful dub-step production.
“Cut Your Teeth” signals an intriguing and very welcome return from yet another talented UK songstress who, alongside the likes of Laura Welsh and Rae Morris, deserves to have a thoroughly successful year.
