Riding on the much deserved worldwide success of ‘I Love It’, all conquering Swedish duo Icona Pop return today with ‘All Night’ – their new American single that paves the way for the release of This Is…, the girl’s international debut album.
The naive innocence and yearning melody lines of earlier Icona Pop material is spliced with the (*bites lip*) harder edged EDM direction the girls have been flirting with of late. The track itself is fairly reminiscent of ‘Downtown’, a track that originally appeared on the duo’s debut Swedish album from last year. However, rather than revolving around the simple joys of oral sex, the subject matter here is that of “life’s too short to worry. Let’s just have a f*cking good time, yeah?”. Which is nice.
As ever in Icona Pop world, release details are all terribly confusing. ‘All Night’ is out today in North America via iTunes but no UK (or indeed European) release details have been revealed.
This Is… will be released via Big Beat / Record Company Ten on September 24. An official album announcement containing tracklist details and official artwork is expected to arrive direct from the label later this week.
