Listen: Frida Sundemo - "The Sun" [Premiere]
Stockholm's Frida Sundemo has laid low since the release of her Lit Up By Neon EP back in May, but she's now returning to wreak emotional havoc this winter.
The electronic pop maestro is currently working on her next LP, as well as preparing for her debut acting gig; Sundemo will appear next year in Kill Your Friends, which also stars Nicholas Hoult and Rosanna Arquette, based on the book by John Niven about the music industry in the '90s.
This new track, "The Sun", is a cinematic pop cut of galactic proportions. It's an expansive, sprawling exploration from Sundemo, with orchestral strings the whirring of sci-fi synths. There's a celestial element to it, and with her knack for deep-seated gravitas, it flicks between emotionally pummelling and beatifully hopeful. It also bears a slight resemblance to M83 x Susanne Sundfør's Oblivion track, with hulking chords rocking the foundation and percussion skittering off towards an event horizon.
Sundemo's latest EP Lit Up By Neon - which includes single "Drawn To You" - is out now on Best Fit Recordings. Head to the label's site to purchase.
