Listen: Cashmere Cat – “With Me”
Scottish-founded label LuckyMe Records seem pretty much unable to put a foot wrong these days. Boasting a cohort of artists including Hudmo, Rinse FM star Rustie, Machinedrum and the super smooth Obey City - this is a collective who are achieving quite incredible global success. With their artists smashing nights as far flung as New York, the label still stay true to their Scottish roots and host regular sell-out parties in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Latest rising star, Norwegian producer Cashmere Cat, recently signed to LuckyMe and has released his debut single with the label, “With Me”. The track is enchanting, with a soft piano opening, before the introduction of trademark glitchy percussion and serenely layered vocals. This is both an artist who can employ auto tune to incredible effect, and command a crescendo of sound, which erupts into an onslaught of balanced, joyful melody.
After already enjoying such acclaimed success over “Mirror Maru”, which secured a spot on GTA V’s radio playlist, and was arguably one of the catchiest and innovative indie electronic tunes of the year, Cashmere Cat has a lot to live up too with his second EP, The Wedding Bells. Set for release January 2014, there is little doubt that the release will fall anywhere near short.
