Listen: Belle and Sebastian - "The Party Line (Tomas Barfod remix)" [Premiere]
Danish producer Tomas Barfod has remixed Belle and Sebastian's "The Party Line", and you can hear it now, exclusively on Best Fit.
The band's latest record, Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance, is out now on Matador. In our 8/10 review of the album, Joe Goggins said of "The Party Line": "...the key word in this new record's title is ‘dance’; lead single “The Party Line” is simultaneously an out-and-out disco stomper and an exercise in detached cool."
The remix ramps up those effortless grooves and crystalline lacquer; far from a '70s-leaning belter, it's now a cool zephyr of electro-house. Though vaguely minimalist, with marching beats and hypnotic ostinatos, it oozes soul and shadowy flair.
This May, Belle and Sebastian will be touring the UK - this jaunt will include a two-night stint at London's Central Hall, and also at Manchester's Albert Hall. In July, the band will also be playing Somerset House's Summer Series.
