Lightboxes unleash upbeat jazz stylings and spiralling pop electronics in “Something Else"
Singer/percussionist Donna Thompson and upright bassist John Atterbury are Lightboxes. The London-based duo meld fresh, tuneful pop and jazz stylings with an impeccable sense of rhythm in their debut single for Sweet Release Records, “Something Else”.
It's nearly impossible to stay still while under the spell of "Something Else". Thompson’s gracefully free-wheeling vocals are the warm, smooth epicentre of the track in the thick of spiraling electronics and a jutting, frenetic bassline that leaves listeners eager for the duo’s future recordings.
The single’s release builds anticipation for Lightboxes' launch performance at The Islington, London on 15 September.
