Lecaudé's kaleidoscopic new single "Powder Blue" scorches with summer heat
Lecaudé is the solo project of producer, songwriter and singer Jack Durtnall, formerly of London pop duo LittleShoesBigVoice (LSBV). His latest single "Powder Blue" is an astounding piece of electronic soul that cranes its neck back to the '80s.
The track's rubbery bass could easily sit among those early purveyors of deep house, thick in its groove and meandering its way around Durtnall's sensual husk.
Chuck in there a dizzying plethora of sound - glistening harps, funk guitars, syncopated percussion, clever vocal samples - and you've got a rewarding three minutes of impressively polished pop that's ready for summer spinning.
According to Lecaudé,"Powder Blue" is “a multi-sensory raising of sex to the pedestal of art. I wanted it to be the sonic version of making your own DIY Yves Klein painting at home.”
"Powder Blue" is taken from Lecaudé's Circles EP, released on 3 June 2016.
