Lauren Auder, the newest addition to True Panther's roster, shares orchestral pop song “The Baptist”
Inspired by the work of twentieth-century composer Maurice Duruflé, Watford born Lauren Auder is turning heads with his unique blend of classical music and experimental electronics.
19-year-old singer-songwriter Lauren Auder releases his hotly anticipated debut single “The Baptist” following a number of years working in France’s underground electronica and rap scenes. A unique combination of holy minimalism and post-rock ambience, this first offering quickly establishes Auder as a genre-fluid artist who is not afraid to bend the rules in the name of progress.
"The Baptist” is a reflection of large-scale works based on religious texts by the likes of Arvo Pärt and Sir John Tavener, condensed and made accessible by the addition of a brooding pop vocal and an imaginative use of modern production. Although there may not be any Christian connotations in Auder’s work it is fitting that “The Baptist”, given its name, adheres to some of the faith’s guiding principles, more specifically those immortalised in 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new,
