Kynsy courses through the midnight-shaded electro-rock of “Elephant In The Room”
On-the-rise Dublin artist Kynsy, moniker of Ciara Lindsey, supercharges through a potent gamut of emotions with a fresh dose of twilight-bathed electro-rock on “Elephant In The Room”.
Irish multi-instrumentalist Kynsy tears into a tempestuous rift of elegiac and grandiose scale on her latest enrapturing single, which coincides with the release of debut EP Things That Don't Exist.
Fracturing into a crescendo of upsurging vocals and bolting guitar stings in its climactic progression, Kynsy upholds the raw songwriting of recent releases “Cold Blue Light” and “Happiness Isn’t A Fixed State”.
Thematically, Kynsy roots into pressures that influence a sense of self-judgement - a resigned honesty deployed through stoic, plaintively relatable lyricism: “staring at a blank screen / chasing an ideal dream”. Bounding between brooding and high-octane, the cinematography of the track's video strikes an equally sensitive balance between polarising passions in its mountainous, coast-lined gravitas.
Kynsy, on a broader level, taps into the role of nostalgia in remedying the concerns of the present, while retrospectively drawing upon the lessons of experience. “'Elephant In The Room' is about reflecting on certain darker times of your life, when you're feeling alienated from yourself and using escapism to deal with that,” she explains. “The song is a reflection on the past, but was written to almost remind myself not to make the same mistakes from the past and keep moving forward no matter what life throws at you.”
