Listen: Kwabs – “Pray For Love”
After his SOHN-hookups, Ben Drew (Plan B) takes on production duties for the new cut from Kwabs, with “Pray for Love” adding yet more detail to the astonishing talent we’re hearing from the London-based boy.
Drew’s cossetting approach to Kwab’s sound is as uncluttered as it is robust and gently frames the 23-year old Ghanian-born’s vocal talents in a way that continues to reference his obvious soul/pop appeal without detracting from the sophistication and invention that got us excited in the first place.
“Pray for Love” is urgently-paced and smoothly flowing – above all it’s Kwabs’ delivery – an organic and very human personality is what gives those pipes their pop – that sits centre-stage.
Pray for Love is released on 6 May.
