New Dirty Hit signing Kasai calls out boy b.s on moody single “Drunk Diary, Weed & Liquor”
Arriving with the announcement of her forthcoming EP Not That Normal, Pt. 1, new Dirty Hit signing Kasai reflects on inexcusable boy behaviour on new single “Drunk Diary, Weed & Liquor”.
Directness takes a certain gumption, an unwaverable confidence in your stance that means those on the receiving end take your point seriously. Fittingly, Kasai’s new single “Drunk Diary, Weed & Liquor” is deft at getting to the point with her succinctly blunt delivery.
Recently signed to innovative label Dirty Hit, the London artist calls out the endless cycle of alcohol-infused boy b.s as she muses on a past love and their own reprehensible behaviour. Mixed with moody bass notes and clattering percussion, the track highlights Kasai’s vocal dexterity whilst conjuring an atmosphere as intoxicating as the blurrying substance its referencing.
“‘Drunk Diary’ came together in a moment where writing felt therapeutic to me,” shares Kasai of her new release. “This song was a safe place for me to speak on something I’ve been through and opens up the rest of the story of the EP.
“I also felt it was the first song where I began to find more of my voice and its influenced everything I’ve made since. I’ve got special memories of making it with amazing people.”
