Julianna Barwick‘s The Magic Place was one of the slow-burning successes of 2011. A success, in fact, which mirrored the album itself; unassuming, it crept up on you while you weren’t looking.
‘Never Change’ is a brand new track that would have slotted quite nicely into The Magic Place. It has the same ecclesiastical aura, all cathedral echo and liturgy-like wordless vocals. Mournful but uplifting. Which is, I suppose, part of the point of church too.
