joan unleash sizzling new single "want u back" and announce second EP cloudy
Back with the third track to be taken from their new EP, Arkansas duo joan are preparing to soundtrack your summer.
Letting go is harder than it should be for joan as they detail on "want u back". The band say it's about “the person you can’t seem to let go of, even though letting go may be the best thing you could do.”
It's the latest single to be lifted from their second EP cloudy, following "love you better" and "magnetic", which is set to drop later this summer. While the pair may have had to forfeit their 2020 touring plans, like the rest of the world, they're not stopping putting out their new music, it's coming fast and it's hotter than ever.
Nostalgia and the sound of boybands been and gone have been a huge influence for the pair and with "want u back" they're certainly channelling all of that. Now more than ever we get to see joan break their own fourth wall as they start to experiment and look to the future for inspiration too, "want u back" is a taste of that.
In the music video for the track, the duo transforms into a six-piece band as they perform their feverish new cut. Explaining the concept for the EP the band realise "clouds can create a beautiful or terrifying scene, they can bring refreshing rain or a destructive storm."
"When you see clouds, it’s probably not great at the moment, but it will get better. that’s what this EP is about - getting better, growth, loving harder, and learning from mistakes."
Their heart-on-sleeve songwriting and maverick pop production has never sounded better together. To celebrate the release of the EP you can join joan for a special online live show on 7 August, tickets are available to from their online store now.
