Listen: I'lls - "Fifty-Phiphti" / "Asakusa" [Premiere]
Melbourne trio I'lls unveil their stunning new double single, "Fifty-Phiphti" / "Asakusa", premiering today on Best Fit.
Better still is second track, "Asakusa", and its chiming night tolls. Marimba notes trickle throughout the track whilst the trio add layer upon delicate layer of insulate electronics. It's an unobtrusive and comforting sound that again speaks directly to the autumnal weather.
Speaking about the tracks, the band said: "'Fifty-Phiphti' is a collage of separately recorded ideas taken over a long period of time. We tried to really hone in on each and every element of the song, attempting to reach the level of quality that most of the artist we admire.
"Oppositely, 'Asakusa' is a track in which one element was broken down and extended in several ways. A glass marimba recording was manipulated to point where it became the kick drums and percussion that are featured in the track."
It might be nearing the summer down under, but "Fifty-Phiphti" and "Asakusa" are perfect for warming these ears in chilly ol' England.
