Watch: I Break Horses – “Faith”
Another developmental curveball from Maria Lindén, the second track to be taken from I Break Horses’ upcoming second long-player Chiaroscuro finds the frighteningly talented Swede breaking new ground in the sonic space between the organic and the synthetic.
Lindén’s m.o. finds her on an eternal quest for perfection – or at the very least, to create something better and more representative with every iteration. “It’s really hard for me to ever feel at peace with anything that I do,” she told MTV earlier this year.
“Faith” is a head-on collision between a motorik pulse and a warping new wave melody with nods to the ticking time-bomb urgency that flows through everything Linden creates. It’s filled with heart-in-mouth moments that touch on the knife-edge moments that fringe those head-and-heart decisions that change lives.
The Magnus Härdner-directed clip for “Faith” shows more of Lindén than we’re used to seeing and the dominating vocal presence of the Stockholm-based artist follows suit.
