Hovvdy share autumnal hymnal “Petal”
The bedroom pop duo herald the year's tender exit on “Petal”, taken from their upcoming album Cranberry.
Purveyors of pillowcore and minimalist guitar players Hovvdy have managed to delineate the essence of melancholia into a perfect three minutes of twilight sadness.

“Petal” is a stunning example of the power of the simplistic. The song uses repetition to its full advantage, creating a central phrase “I had a feeling / with who you used to be” orbited by low key instrumentation that exudes pure feeling.
Hovvdy straddle contentment and longing and manage to convey that indescribable feeling in the most charming way. This is music to soothe the soul made by people who take joy in that fact.
Cranberry is out 9 Feb 2018 via Double Double Whammy.
