Sydney’s Hamish Duncan has a confusingly large number of aliases. He is one half of fantastic (but sadly recently quiet) Lazy Dre; he records as Sleep In Sleep In; and, finally, he has just released Galaxy Galaxy – his first full-length as Housewife.
Housewife is a strange beast. It slips between genres, often clutching onto a familiar sound for just a couple of bars before veering off obliquely. ‘LZ’ is probably the most immediate track on Galaxy Galaxy, comprising a cornucopic range of samples, from Shadow-esque breaky drums to a brief snippet of Amy Winehouse.
Galaxy Galaxy is available as a free download from Housewife’s Bandcamp. In the meantime, grab ‘LZ’ below.
