Taken From the Series of Songs Altogether Unaccompanied Vol III & IV, “Rise” cements Helena Deland as a master of introspection.
Montreal’s Helena Deland makes music driven by memory. Her power is in delineating the feeling of specific moments; a touch, a graze, a glance with pinpoint accuracy. Like previous singles “Claudion” and “Take It All”, “Rise” captures a moment of cinematic intensity that has a sense of grandeur and spectacle but is also profoundly human. A rare quality indeed.
In her words “Rise" is “longing for a closeness that’s always just out of reach with someone who is very reserved, very protected.”
From the Series of Songs Altogether Unaccompanied Vol III + IV is out 19th October via Luminelle Recordings.
