Heartless Bastards – Parted Ways [Best Fit Premiere]
We know what you’re thinking, ‘another day another new blues-rock record’ but trust us, Heartless Bastard’s forthcoming album Arrow, the follow up to their 2009 full length The Mountain, isn’t just another half hearted throw back to the halcyon days of Joplin et al. It is a whole hearted, feverish collection of irresistible whisky drenched americana with just enough warmth to coax you in and just enough rawness to keep you on a razor’s edge. Don’t trust us? Ok, well then give brand new track ‘Parted Ways’ a spin.
Inspired by fellow Dayton, Ohio favourites The Breeders and oft’ compared to Ohioan contemporaries The Black Keys, Erika Wennerstrom & co’s latest track finds itself in slightly more polished territory; the cozy acoustic guitar strums giving way to controlled electric burns whilst Wennerstrom’s distinctive drawl draws an effortlessly classic line underneath everything.
Arrow is due out on Partisan Records on the 26 November. Pre-order the album here.
