Harlea makes her voice heard on new single "You Don't Get It"
“I knew my voice and my sound were there. I just had to reach them.” That’s what Birmingham born North Londoner Harlea has to say about her path in music. New track “You Don’t Get It” is ample proof that she’s found both.
“You don’t get it / that’s why you won’t get it,” she repeats over crashing drums, perfectly setting off the track’s blues-inspired guitar riff. The pop-tinged vocals complete the "You Don't Get It", with subtly aggressive lines like “This ain’t about you baby / it’s not about what you want” adding real edge.
Harlea plays the sold-out final night of The Best Fit Five Day Forecast, our new music festival, next week. She'll be tearing up The Lexington on a bill that includes pop upstarts Bossy Love, ex-Paramore drummer Zac Farro's HalfNoise project, and Charlotte Church's infamous Pop Dungeon.
Self-released first track “Miss Me” (one of our favourite songs of 2016) is now sitting pretty at over 500,000 streams, but Harlea is in it for the long haul, making sure to avoid overexposure and letting her music speak for itself. With the drivingly catchy “You Don’t Get It”, she’s sure given it a hell of a voice.
