Liverpool psych quartet Gulf drop another impressive offering with "Ocean"
Shimmering and undulating as the waves, Best Fit is happy to premiere “Ocean”, the latest track from Liverpool psych quartet Gulf.
Another entry in an impressive handful of track released thus far, “Ocean” appears far more tranquil than last winter’s wooly, disco-inflected “Tell Me Again”. However, “Ocean” isn’t quite what it seems at first blush…
Gulf are sly foxes here, kicking off the track with some relaxed percussion punctuated with hazy, intermittent strums. “Ocean”, though, is a song that moves in thirds; it morphs into a dual effort of floating synths and the gauzy guitar work before upping the tempo in the final minute, driven by the insistent strumming and drumming.
Gulf sets off a string of upcoming UK dates with an appearance at this weekend’s Liverpool Sound City. All dates and locales are listed below, and stream the track beneath:
