We here at Best Fit were unfamiliar with Australian duo GRRL PAL (and their apparent disdain for vowels), but their latest single "NGHT" is simply impossible to ignore.
Though there are ominous synths lurking just beneath the surface (that wouldn't sound out of place on the Requiem For A Dream soundtrack) those sounds are transformed by their context, and "NGHT" never feels anything short of ecstatic. Sing-songy vocals dance their way over a bed of propulsive beats and right into your pleasure centres, recalling Alexis Krauss' work in Sleigh Bells. In fact, the entire track sounds as though it could be the product of an alternate universe where Sleigh Bells discovered glitzy vocal glitches instead of roaring guitars.
With the band promising to release a new song each month, we can't wait to hear what's next in January. Listen below, or watch the duo bounce around in their video clip.
