Singer-songwriters are, broadly, about as appetising as a small piece of excrement on a slice of burned toast. It’s nice, then, when you come across someone who plays guitar, sings about boys and girls, and doesn’t make you contemplate the comparative benefits of public self-immolation.
Gorgeous Bully is from Plymouth, but his musical heritage is clearly anchored somewhere about 3,000 miles to the west. ‘That Kind Of Girl’ is a gloriously scuzzy piece of one-three-five simplicity that immediately brings to mind the Lemonheads – but with a tongue stuck even more firmly in the cheek.
There are a couple of EPs available on Gorgeous Bully’s Bandcamp. Stream That Kind Of Girl below – with a hat-tip to the lovely Lost Lost Lost.
