Fraser A. Gorman gives a charming cover of folk classic "Blues Run The Game" [Premiere]
"Blues Run The Game" - the classic 60s folk record that has been covered by just about everyone (Simon and Garfunkel, Nick Drake, Bert Jansch, Robin Pecknold, Laura Marling). It's a timeless piece of writing with romantic lyrics about a lovestruck traveller, set upon a lolling bed of frail acoustic fingerpicks. Australian soloist Fraser A. Gorman now joins the ranks of those so taken with its perennial beauty.
The cover's charm lies in the boy/girl harmonies between Gorman and fellow Melbourne songwriter Leah Senior. Gorman's languid husk is the perfect counterpart to Senior's crisp vocals that recall Sandy Denny's effeminate and striking coo. Simple and very effective indeed.
"Blues Run The Game" appears as the b-side to Gorman's upcoming single "Broken Hands" (released 6 April via House Anxiety / Marathon Artists). Check out his UK and EU tour dates below:
