
"All I Want" is another slab of indie-pop glory from Francis
Swedish quintet Francis may have been on the go for a decade now, but with their latest single "All I Want" they prove that they are still producing refreshing songs that are brimming with magic.
Having first caught our attention with "Horses" and "Follow Me Home" a few years back, Francis marked their return last year with standalone single "Swing". However, "All I Want" is a different beast. It is a punchier, far grander affair that feels like a confident statement of intent. It sees the band get more cinematic with their production: it feels fuller, where every corner of the song is filled with sweeping sounds and twinkling synths.
It's the perfect driving song, made for long, solitary highways bathed in moonlight, pounding along to the pulsating drums that keep the whole thing powering onwards in pursuit of adventure and the unknown. It also sees vocalist Petra Mases embody a wholly haunting entity, where a melancholy and longing exists within the harmonised "oh's", and the words seem tumble out of out her mouth as if she can't express her frustration quickly enough.
If this standalone single is anything to go by, Francis are only going to get more grandiose and that can only be a good thing.
