The Artists Formerly Known As Games. No More Games. Games No More (like Faith No More, see?). All of these would have been reasonable replacements when Games were forced to change their name by Interscope.
Instead, they settled on Ford & Lopatin – which is, quite clearly, a firm of rabbit solicitors. No matter; the glistening, intricately constructed pop that characterised their debut EP That We Can Play remains in their F&L output. Still dramatically different from Lopatin’s solo Oneohtrix output, it is full of pitch-shift synths and glitchy vocals. ‘Emergency Room’ is the pair’s first single as Ford & Lopatin, and it is as immediate as anything they have released.
The single is today’s Song Of The Day. The debut full-length is scheduled for a June release on Software, a new imprint of Mexican Summer.
