Listen: Fickle Friends – “PLAY” [Premiere]
After brightening our January with the most upfront pop song imaginable, Brighton quintet Fickle Friends return today with “PLAY”, premiering on Best Fit.
Continuing in the accessible vein of its predecessor, “SWIM”, this new song stays true to its title with buoyant rhythms, whirring synths and squeaky-clean girl/boy harmonies. “Babe you don’t play it like you used to” hears singer Natti Shiner lament a lost passion, sweetened by her cherry vocal that skips over spangled indie-pop guitars and loose basslines. It’s bright ‘n’ breezy pop that, whilst tautly produced, doesn’t lose its energy upon impact.
“PLAY” is immediately available (buy here) via Killing Moon Records. The band will launch their new single at The Shacklewell Arms, Dalston on 9 April.
