“Party Time” sees EUT jettison worldly woes with storming indie-pop power

Amsterdam outfit EUT parade a propensity for irresistibly peppy post-pop confections on their new track “Party Time”.

EUT sprang onto the scene in 2016 with their unapologetically laid-back antics asserted on debut LP Fool For The Vibes. Spinning familiar alternative angles with unique quirks, the band's brand of frayed college rock boasts a sidewinding vitality that manages to hook in its unremitting, high-octane momentum.

The Dutch five-piece triumphantly plant their feet back on unadulterated indie rock turf with latest offering “Party Time”, tapping carefree zeal in broadcasting the merits of loosening up when setbacks overwhelm.

A sense of expectation versus reality governs EUT’s key intent, coming-of-age resignation tempered by Megan de Klerk’s feverishly mercurial vocal manoeuvres. Subtle shifts in mood lock into a raucous blaze of live-wire guitar-wielded friction, applied to lethally feel-good effect; an ebullience captured on the accompanying video.

Megan de Klerk expands upon the rationale behind the track: “Life isn't a party right now, but we can pretend, right? The whole record is actually in some ways about dancing difficult moments away... which we do in the video of ‘Party Time’”.

The other band members add: “Only Megan was there all the time [during filming] and shouted along to fuck the dancer up and give him energy. He danced for hours that day and also had to change shirts often because he was sweating so much. Luckily he had brought three of the same shirts and one was always hung outside to dry!”

The lead single from a sophomore album due early next year, “Party Time” is yet another example of EUT in their element, establishing a frenetic tempo that serves as a clarion call to remain positive when all else seems to fail.

"Party Time" is out now via V2 Records, and the album of the same name will release on 19 February. Find EUT on Instagram.
