Estrons' radio-friendly punk track "Make A Man" packs a punch
“It’s the story of a heterosexual female’s battle between desiring a man, whilst simultaneously finding herself having little respect for his self-important ego and misogynistic attitude towards women. She retaliates by objectifying him herself", Estrons vocalist Taliesyn Källström explains of her band's new song, "Make A Man".
Quite the statement indeed, but Estrons more than match it with ferocious musical energy. As Källström yells "I'd like to make a man out of you", vicious guitars are heard throttling against hammering drums that constantly threaten to break.
Somehow, despite the raucous riffing and relentless yells, "Make A Man" is a solid, accessible block of sound - so much so that national radio has gone a bit mad for it (Radio 1's Huw Stephens, BBC Radio 6's Tom Robinson, Amazing Radio - to name a few). We're not at all surprised.
