Swedish vocal powerhouse Elias shares "Green Eyes" as he releases debut EP WARCRY
Stockholm teen Elias has a voice that belies his age. Full of life, control, and sagacity, it bubbles in verses and soars through choruses with beautifully descriptive lyricism.
First aired on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show last night, we are now delighted to premiere "Green Eyes".
A tale of the near-fruitless attempt to move on from a poisonous lover, lyrics of "keeping one eye open / sleeping with the enemy / [...] release me from the chains" cut through moody, Middle Eastern-tinged electronics as Elias' quivering croon recalls BANKS' stunning vocal earnesty.
“In ‘Green Eyes’ I have tried to portray the pain and despair you feel when you can’t let go of a person,” says Elias. “Even though you really have to, and it's the only thing you want to. This perfect person that is still a monster in your head.”
The chorus truly shows off Elias' power as he bellows "[you're] never coming home" over thunderous drums, thick swabs of synth and gospel-like harmonies. Its power seems everlasting.
Along with the new single, today marks the release of Elias' debut EP WARCRY via Warner.Find out more: Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | Spotify | iTunes | Website
