The UK dance-floor fillers continue to make their mark with EKKAH joining the likes of Mausi, JUCE and Fickle Friends in the 90s-tinged electro renaissance.
The duo – two friends, both called Rebecca, from Birmingham and London respectively – write and record their head-bopping pop together and if this debut is anything to go by, they’ve got the formula down. A classic snare-hat beat snaps away throughout beneath the hypnotic muted guitar riff and kaleidoscopic synth play.
A late night party feel shines through thanks to all-too-familiar lyrical references: “Your wake up call is the same as mine/why do we always feel dark in the morning light?” the catching top-line seductively simmers.
