It’s a Friday afternoon. The sun is (sort of) out. It’s time, of course, for some music seemingly constructed from overclocked power tools.
‘Fishsh’, a collaboration between Berlin producer Dead Fader and New York MC Sensational is, frankly, absurd. It begins in lolloping fashion, with a slasher film melody sitting atop rumbling, serrated bass. Sensational’s ungainly rhythm compounds the sense of horrible impending murder – before, sure enough, the whole thing implodes in a slow motion fit of saw waves. By the time the petrol motor noises subside you are reminded of Kadence and Dabrye’s ‘Encoded Flow’, but with the horror quotient pumped up as far as it will go.
‘Fishsh’ is taken from the work it, no EP, forthcoming on Robot Elephant. Pre-order it here, and stream the track below.
