And so the relentless march of Pictures Music continues. Dauwd, the London producer responsible for one of the tracks of the year in the utterly beautiful ‘Shimmer’, has a new single forthcoming on the label – but in the meantime, he has contributed to the excellent new compilation from Adult Swim.
‘Ikopol’ shares the warmth that characterised ‘Could It Be’ and ‘Shimmer’. It’s heavy, thick, like trying to make your way through layers of swaddling, accompanied by calypso-esque marimbas and oddly comforting breathing noises. Everything sounds incredible – not necessarily pristine, but exactly right, as if the producer has made every sample his own.
‘Ikopol’ is taken from Adult Swim’s Unclassified compilation. You can download the whole thing here.
