This has been out a couple of weeks, but it really hasn’t had the attention it deserves on this side of the pond.
Covert Coup has been one of my most-anticipated records of the year and, while it isn’t in quite the same league as Currensy‘s Pilot Talk I and II, it is still perfect testament to the New Orleans MC’s remarkable talent.
Currensy’s rhythmic sense really is years ahead of that of his peers – but one of his closest competitors must surely be Indiana’s Freddie Gibbs, who here reprises his ‘fuck a million downloads’ schtick in lovely, triplet-heavy fashion.
