Parisian producer Croquet Club, aka Jeremy Villecourt, has had support from the likes of 6Music and Zane Lowe so far in his short career, and ‘Awake’ comes as half of a debut AA-side single, being released on Anjunadeep.
The track exhibits a soulful demeanor almost akin to Anthony & The Johnsons, yet it’s overset with a beat that could’ve been lifted from Antidotes-era Foals, and adding such a dancey element to soulful tones that are most often set in brooding, calming tracks works wonders.
‘Awake’, and other half, ‘Cardigan’, is out via Anjunadeep on 26 August.
