Brooklyn five-piece Corbu have dropped latest single “Promise Me”, an absolutely stunning slice of bittersweet dream-pop.
It’s appropriate that Corbu—essentially a full-band extension of the home recordings of Jonathan Graves—are named for the legendary Swiss architect. “Promise Me”, like all great works, has been built from the ground up. A swirling bed of sound forms the foundation and percussive synths dance over the top like accent walls. Midway through, a longing, lazy guitar line forms a new wing, just before Graves’s voice fills the room with a dreamy plea.
With a sound as fully-formed and beatuiful as this, that's a promise I'm willing to make.
